A tragic incident in Siliguri’s Dakshin Shantinagar, near the Binoy More area, has left the community in deep shock after a young man was found dead under suspicious circumstances. The deceased, identified as Sanjay Das, was discovered hanging inside a rented house.
Following the incident, police detained his wife and her family members, including her brother, father, and mother, in connection with the case.
According to local sources, Sanjay had married Sompa Roy, who lived in the same locality, around four years ago. However, their relationship reportedly became strained just months after the wedding. Due to ongoing disagreements, Sanjay eventually moved out of his in-laws’ residence and shifted to a nearby rented accommodation. Despite the separation, tensions between the couple allegedly continued.
Family members of the deceased claim that Sanjay had been facing continuous intimidation and physical assault from his wife’s relatives. A formal complaint was lodged, following which the police arrested all four accused individuals.
